Study on flame propagation characteristics of coal dust explosion in horizontal straight pipe

Abstract Coal dust explosion is one of the common accidents in mines. The flame generated process spreads rapidly, and high-temperature will cause personal injury equipment damage working environment. In order to study propagation characteristics coal explosion, four kinds experiments were carried out by using intelligent identification device, was simulated computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. results show that length lignite obviously longer than long coal, non-caking gas coal. From ignition dust, increases continuously, reaches maximum 52 cm at a certain time then gradually decreases 0. While increases, rate also experiences accelerating decelerating. By comparing obtained CFD numerical simulation with experimental results, it found error within acceptable range. Further statistical analysis made on overpressure change law consistent theoretical formula, so as further verify feasibility for research. research lay foundation predicting disaster scope accidents, have practical significance taking suppression flameproof measures
